I will remove components as you have requested; however, "cupla tingz" -
1) I will leave the headset installed as this may assist diagnosis of the condition.
2) Do you want the bottom bracket? I don't know the length but, it is the original and appropriate for a double ring, road, which may not meet your requirement of a single ring and possibly track. Please advise.
For me, I really like the way the Bianchi rides and am passing it to you because I have more bike projects than money, time or good sense. So, 'tis time to come to terms with reality. Also, 48 is my lower limit while the optimal size is 52. Having said I must align with reality and simplify, I, like Walt Whitman, now will contradict myself and say that I remain alert to finding a slightly larger Bianchi road (50 - 52) or even cyclo-cross (size?) frame&fork (an compleat bike may not be affordable at this time). There you see - no good sense at all.
Re: Route from/to City -
I could use the short bike ride. So, if you wish, sometime after your work for your commute home, I could meet you at the Caribou and show you the route. To my small way of thinking, though, the only two highlights are an intersection at Devon Avenue in the Indian neighbourhood which is often deliciously fragrant from the many restaurants and, along Lincoln, across from the recently built Police station near Bryn Mawr, a small Columbian bakery.
For the following, I am not talking down to you and I fully respect your intelligence and where-with-all. Though, I describe the route in nerdy detail more to provide assurance that it's an easy nearly straight-shot. Heck, if I figured it out so can a chimp in a striped t-shirt riding a trike.
Basically the route is as follows (consulting Map Quest 'cause I can't remember street names).
You know how to ride the trail or Green Bay Road to that bar-be-que shop (Hecky's?) by the car wash. Make a right turn there and you intersect nearly merge on to Wesley. > Travel Wesley straight south to the Evanston-Chicago border at Howard. Note: Several blocks north of Howard the Skokie Swift rail line blocks the route. Easy get around - two blocks east to busy street Asbury (becomes Western in the City), over the tracks then back west two blocks to Wesley. No brainer.
> When you cross Howard/city limits/in proper Chicago, Wesley changes name to Maplewood. The street stretches one short block the hooks west one block to Rockwell. You've arrived ! Rockwell is the street you take all the way south to Lincoln. At Lincoln, I assume you can make your way south to your home turf. Note: For the northbound trip, I suggest taking Washtenaw. Washtenaw is one block west of Rockwell and is primarily one way going northbound. (Rockwell is primarily one way going south bound).
I am pleased to know the Bianchi is going to a good mom.
